"What happens to us in the future? Do we become assholes or something?"
Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future 1
Timocracia, Rubén Sánchez's new book (see the cover here), will be published in October, 21. It will be edited by FACUA and its Foundation, and it will be available to be downloaded for free and serialised at Timocracia.com.
With his peculiar sense of humour, this journalist and FACUA's spokesman goes over "300 tricks that companies and governments use to fool consumers", as Timocracia's cover states. The author references movies and superhero comics and quotes television series in order to make this feast of fraud more digestible.
"'Timocracia' intends to be a guide to survive the obscure world of fraud and a detox cure to those who live drugged by the lies that governments and corporations use to manipulate us", says Rubén Sánchez.
"The book", the author continues, "will offer a collection of weapons not only to defend ourselves, but also to move to counterattack. In a society where so many of the politicians who govern us are actually partners in crime of those who commit the biggest abuses, where those who are really in charge are the multibillionaires who manage big corporations, it is vital for citizens to rise up and change things".
He warns readers before they start reading Timocracia: "This book is based on real facts. All the names and brands are the same in real life. The telephone and social media conversations reproduced in the book are taken from the author's personal experiences or inspired by real frauds suffered by consumers. No fraudster was hurt during its writing".
